about

City of the Future is an accidental concept album (EP) about the collapse of society, boredom, willful ignorance, and potential futures ranging from a dystopia to a commerce based theme park.

Okay, I realize that sounds like a pile of bullshit, but it was on my mind at the time. I'd drive from my work in downtown Oakland to the studio in east Oakland every day while working on this music. I'd witness wealth, poverty, dilapidation, patchworks of cultures overlapping, and everything felt like it was operating in its own little world. There was no progress, just people clinging to what they had, or people trying to move forward by pushing outer people back. Everyone was in transition, I didn't know where the world was going, and I didn't see many good outcomes.

So all the songs I wrote ended up being based in this environment.
